Judy brings over 39 years of Dental Hygiene experience to our practice. She received her degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Bridgeport: Fones School of Dental Hygiene.
During her first 16 years of employment with a general dentist, Judy developed and implemented a program of patient care and education in oral hygiene. She also trained and became an accredited orthodontic hygienist, performing many of the orthodontic duties in addition to her regular hygiene duties.
After taking two years off to be home with her two young children who have since grownup, her daughter becoming a Board Certified Periodontist in the US Navy and her son an environmental engineer, Judy worked for the next 20 years in a Periodontal Practice. There she was instrumental in creating an educational program for her patients on the correlation of periodontal disease with heart disease, diabetes and respiratory disease. During that time Judy also participated in a two year clinical trial for a local antibiotic Arestin. The trial was a complete success, determining that the application of Arestin along with scaling and root planing can greatly reduce the depth of periodontal pockets. These results have helped Arestin become widely used throughout many dental practices and earning Judy the ”Arestin Certified Expert” certificate of achievement award.
Judy is also proficient with the use of Oraqix a non-injectable anesthetic used when local anesthesia is needed during scaling and root planning for periodontal pockets and for use on extremely sensitive patients.
Judy takes great pride in trying to make each trip to the dentist as enjoyable and painless as possible, striving to have each person leave with the feeling,” my mouth has never felt better”. She strongly believes in good home care and will gladly take the time to instruct every patient on the different techniques, methods and tools needed to take care of those problem areas that may occur from time to time.
